Re: Photoshop is asking for a serial

Not a problem, David!  I appreciate your assistance.   I was able to figure out what the issue was, but for anyone else having this particular issue maybe my steps to resolve it will help.  There are two things that I think it could have been.

I had seen on the community here someone mention there was an issue with Photoshop not recognizing Adobe IDs and that issue had been patched by Adobe.  But I never saw any sort of updates pertaining to that.  Also, prior to purchasing the Creative Cloud, I had a demo of Lightroom.   When that ran out is when I decided to purchase Creative Cloud.  So I uninstalled Lightroom, but I guess something got left behind.  I saw someone else's suggestion somewhere here in the community to try the Creative Suite cleaner if you've had the Master Collection installed.   I didn't have that installed, but figured it was worth a shot anyway.  Sure enough when I ran the Creative Suite Cleaner, it found the demo of Lightroom and cleared it out.  Once I reinstalled Photoshop, I saw the update that was for specific characters in Adobe IDs not working and was able to install that and it signed in without a problem.  So I'm not sure which of those really fixed my problem, but in the end I'm able to sign into my Adobe ID through Photoshop now and activate properly.

In bullet points, here's what I did:

  • Uninstall ALL Adobe applications
  • Download CS Cleaner Tool at http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cscleanertool.html
  • Run CS Cleaner Tool
  • Tell CS Cleaner Tool to clear everything it finds (in my case it was just Lightroom)
  • Download/install the Adobe Application Manager again
  • Download/install Photoshop again
  • Once Photoshop was installed, close the Adobe Application Manager
  • Open Adobe Application Manager (this close/re-open will tell it to check for updates)
  • This is when I saw the update relating to the Adobe ID.  So I let that install.
  • Once all updates were installed, open Photoshop
  • It pops up as trial, choose "License Product" and sign into Adobe ID

As far as technical specs, I'm running Windows 8 Pro.

Thanks again for your assistance!
