From the Applications folder you can launch the Adobe Application Manager (AAM). Clicking on the Try link from the Creative Cloud Apps page at https://creative.adobe.com/apps just installs or launches AAM.
If AAM is saying InDesign is updated did you ever have an InDesign trial on your machine in the past? If you did was it dragged to the Trash to uninstall it? Dragging an Adobe application to the Trash does not uninstall it.
Look in the folder Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers. If there is a link for Uninstall Adobe InDesign then double-click on it and InDesign should uninstall. You will then be able to install it from AAM.
