Hi Lloyd214,
Is this still happening? Is InDesign the only program doing this? Are you on Windows or Mac? My recommendation would be to try uninstalling and reinstalling InDesign under different conditions than you installed it originally. Try creating a new user account with admin rights on the computer, uninstall the current version and then reinstall it again from that different account.
To Create a new user
Windows 7 - http://windows.microsoft.com/en-IN/windows7/Create-a-user-account
Mac 10.7 - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4600
Mac 10.8 - http://support.apple.com/kb/PH11468
To uninstall
Control Panel > Programs & Features (Windows 7/8)
Mac HD > Applications > Utilities > Adobe Installers (Mac OS X)
